Marketplace Roundup: German Hockey League Signs Four-Year Deal With Covestro

The German Hockey League (DEL) has reached a new four-year deal with chemical company Covestro. The subsidiary of Bayer will receive logo presence on the referees' helmets as well as on the ice and boards starting with the '16-17 season. Covestro will also be featured on the league's official game puck from '17-18. Financial terms of the deal, which was brokered by DEL marketing partner UFA Sports, were not revealed (DEL).

CLEAR CONNECTION
: Barcelona and global smartphone brand Oppo announced in Jakarta on Thursday an expansion of their sponsorship agreement that will give Oppo rights in Indonesia for the next two years. The deal covers football events, activities for supporters, TV advertising and the launch of special-edition mobile devices and accessories. In addition, the Oppo logo will be displayed with LED light boards at Camp Nou (Barcelona).

ONLY IN BRAZIL: Apple will be selling Apple Watch bands that reference the national flags of 14 major competitors, but "you can only get them if you're in Brazil" for the Olympics. They will be sold at the Apple Store at VillageMall in Barra da Tijuca. It is "the sole location selling the straps, which will be available in early August." The bands retail for R$329 ($101) (GQ, 7/21).

ON-TIME DELIVERY: Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg agreed to a new partnership with global logistics company UPS. The initial one-year partnership includes an option for an additional year. UPS will sponsor the club's first team as well as its women's team. The club will work with the company on social media and sustainability projects (VfL Wolfsburg).

COMPLETE COVERAGE: Second Bundesliga club 1860 Munich signed a new shirt sponsorship deal with insurance company Versicherungsgruppe die Bayerische. As part of the initial three-year deal, the company's logo will be featured on the club's jerseys. In addition, the insurance group will receive extensive marketing rights, including sideline signage. Financial details of the deal, which was brokered by Infront Sports & Media, were not revealed (1860 Munich).
