Patrick Kluivert
Former Netherlands int'l PATRICK KLUIVERT "has been appointed director of football" at Paris St. Germain. The arrival of the 40-year-old "follows the appointment of UNAI EMERY as head coach, replacing LAURENT BLANC last month." PSG said that Kluivert will "play an active role in the national and international development of the club" and "defining the club's long-term sporting strategy." Kluivert was appointed coach of Ajax's U19 squad in May this year "but opted to leave the club once the extent of PSG's interest became clear" (PA, 7/15). ... Asics America named Puma Head of Global Merchandising ANDREW RICHARD VP of regional sales. Prior to Puma, Richard led national sales and merchandising teams at Timberland and Reebok (Asics). ... Sponsorship agency Connect Partnership Group named Circuit of the Americas Senior Manager of Corporate Partnerships CHANNING BUTLER director of sales (THE DAILY).

COACHES/MANAGERSDIEGO OCAMPO will be the new coach of Spanish Basketball League (ACB) club Joventut. He replaces SALVA MALDONADO and will sign a two-year contract. Joventut will be the third ACB club that Ocampo has coached (EL PERIODICO, 7/15). ... ANDRIY SHEVCHENKO has been appointed as Ukraine coach on a contract until the end of 2018 World Cup qualifying. The 39-year-old will succeed MYKHAILO FOMENKO, whom he assisted during Euro 2016, where Ukraine lost all three games without scoring. Shevchenko will be aided by MAURO TASSOTTI and ANDREA MALDERA, both former members of AC Milan's coaching staff, and SERHIY REBROV's ex-Dynamo Kyiv No. 2 RAÚL RIANCHO (UEFA). ... Belgian FA President FRANCOIS DE KEERSMAECKER announced that Belgium sacked national football team Manager MARC WILMOTS on Friday after its "highly fancied team of talents" failed to advance beyond the quarterfinals at Euro 2016. Keersmaecker said, "The objectives set for the Euros were not achieved. We need a new momentum." A search was "under way for a coach with international experience to take over before a friendly against Spain on Sept. 1 ahead of the World Cup qualifiers" (REUTERS, 7/15). ... Mlada Boleslav Manager KAREL JAROLIM "will take over as coach of Czech Republic." The Czech federation said that Jarolim "will get a two-year-contract, starting Aug. 1, with an option for another two years." Friday's announcement "comes after a week of negotiations between the federation and Mlada Boleslav, the Czech club where Jarolim is under contract." Jarolim replaces PAVEL VRBA, "who terminated his contract with the national team after being eliminated in the first round at the European Championship" (AP, 7/17).
