Barcelona Announces Revenue Of $742M, Tweets Video Of Camp Nou Renovations

Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu disclosed the club's revenue figures for last season, when it earned a "whopping" €670M ($742M), according to Luis F. Rojo of MARCA. Barcelona also reduced its debt by €40M ($44.3M) from €320M ($354M) to €280M ($310M). Bartomeu also revealed that Barcelona remains in talks with Qatar Airways and two other companies over shirt sponsorship. The club is also planning on selling the naming rights of the Camp Nou, with Bartomeu stating it expects to receive more than €200M ($222M) in any possible deal, meaning the €670M figure "could rise significantly for next season" (MARCA, 6/30).

NEW HOOPS GM: In Madrid, Josep Margalef reported former Barcelona basketball player Rodrigo de la Fuente is the new sporting director of Barcelona's basketball team. He replaces Joan Creus. De la Fuente, 39, had occupied since October the position of technical secretary, one level below Creus. His first task will be to choose the team's new coach (AS, 6/30).
