J.League Side Urawa Reds Mull Legal Options Over Racist Tweets

J.League side Urawa Reds "may consider legal action against the person who taunted Kashima Antlers Brazilian midfielder Caio with racist tweets," according to KYODO. Urawa said that on Sunday "it received a telephone call from the person who is believed to be the poster of the offensive tweets." Although he agreed to meet team officials, "he did not appear at the agreed time and place and the club has been unable to reach him on his cell phone." The club said that "it would like to determine whether he is a Reds supporter or not, and whether he intends to apologize for his behavior." The team, "which has been plagued by racist incidents from its fans in recent years, is now considering whether or not legal action might be taken." Caio, however, indicated that "he will not seek legal redress" (KYODO, 6/14).
