Liverpool Confident Anfield Renovation Will Be Finished In Time For First Home Game

Liverpool is confident that its Main Stand renovations "will be complete in time to host Burnley" in its first home match of next season, according to the PA. Contingencies "had been put in place months ago, with outline plans to request the game on August 20, now confirmed as being against Burnley, be played away from home in the event final building work was not completed." Anfield "can be ready to host the match on the second weekend of the season." The club is not "ruling out the option of asking for a switch to Turf Moor" if it feels it requires extra time to sign off any final issues, but the ground will be ready to host Sean Dyche's side if needed. As yet, "there has been no contact with Burnley about a request to switch the fixture to an away game for Jurgen Klopp's side." The redevelopment of the Main Stand at Anfield "has been in progress since late 2014 and will raise the highest possible attendance from 45,522 to 54,000" (PA, 6/15).
