Argentine first division club San Lorenzo VP MARCELO TINELLI confirmed his candidacy for the presidency of the Argentine FA and said that "he would love to be the leader of a Super League in Argentine football." The election will be held on June 30. Tinelli: "The Super League has to start within the AFA and before June 30. It will have a CEO and if they make me the president, I will be thrilled" (LOS ANDES, 5/24). ... Oscar-winning composer A.R. RAHMAN, who scored the music for the upcoming biopic on "iconic" Indian cricketer SACHIN TENDULKAR, "feels the film will be one of the biggest movie-going events of the year." Directed by JAMES ERSKINE, "Sachin: A Billion Dreams" is based on the life of Tendulkar. The biographical drama "stars the 43-year-old master blaster and will chronicle his journey while revealing a few aspects of his life that have never been heard of or seen before" (PTI, 5/24). ... JOSÉ MOURINHO "may have to face" up to 10 days of EVA CARNEIRO’s sex-discrimination case against him "being laid out in the full glare of the public at the start of next month." The claim by Carneiro, the former Chelsea team doctor, "could prove to be embarrassing for Mourinho," who is expected to be confirmed as ManU’s new manager, unless it is settled out of court. The case at the South London Employment Tribunal in Croydon "is scheduled" for between seven and 10 days (LONDON TIMES, 5/24).

ZIKA FEAR: Irish golfer RORY MCILROY "took a long time to decide he would represent Ireland at the 2016 Rio Olympics but the 27-year-old world number three could now miss golf's return to the Games after a 112-year absence because of concerns over the Zika virus." He said, "There's going to be a point in the next couple of years where we (McIlroy and fiancée ERICA STOLL) are going to have to think about starting a family. Right now I'm ready to go but I don't want anything to affect that" (REUTERS, 5/24).

ON THE LIST: Circuit of the Americas Chair BOBBY EPSTEIN "has made a prominent 2016 list of Formula One’s most influential people." Paddock, motorsports’ business and lifestyle magazine, named Epstein "the 67th most powerful figure in the sport in its sixth annual rankings." F1 CEO BERNIE ECCLESTONE, to "absolutely no one’s surprise, is No. 1 on the Paddock list." He is followed by CVC Capital Partners co-Chair DONALD MACKENZIE and FIA President JEAN TODT. Williams F1 Deputy Team Principal CLAIRE WILLIAMS "is the top-ranked woman at No. 20." Haas F1 Owner GENE HAAS "made the list for the first time at No. 30" (AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN, 5/24).
