MotoGP Organizer Dorna Sports Execs Fined For Violating Spanish Tax Laws

Spain's Supreme Court imposed a fine of €6.6M ($7.2M) for "grave infractions" of general tax law to MotoGP organizer Dorna Sports execs Carmelo Ezpeleta and Enrique Aldama, according to the EFE. The ruling "also orders them" to pay the Spanish tax authorities an additional €25.5M ($27.7M). The court ruled that in '03 and '04 Ezpeleta and Aldama simulated a trade of shares "to obtain fiscal advantages and a covert distribution of dividends." The court ruling, explained in 12 sentences, orders the two men and their spouses to pay €3.9M ($4.2M) (Ezpeleta) and €2.7M ($2.9M) (Aldama) related to IRPF (personal income) tax from '04 (EFE, 3/1).
