Event Notes: FA Risks Sanctions Over Date Of Cup Replay

The FA is "risking a fine" from UEFA after scheduling the FA Cup fifth-round replay between Hull City and Arsenal for March 8, with the kickoff at 7pm. UEFA has not given permission for the match "to coincide with Champions League fixtures on the same night" and could take action despite the FA trying to minimize disruption to the European competition. The FA "hopes to evade sanction" as it has been in dialogue with UEFA this week and says that kicking off at 5:45pm was not possible (LONDON TIMES, 2/26).
