German Hockey League Awards 2017 Winter Game To Mannheim

The German Hockey League (DEL) awarded its outdoor Winter Game to the Adler Mannheim. The club will take on the Schwenninger Wild Wings at the Wirsol Rhein-Neckar Arena on Jan. 7. The home of Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim has a capacity of 29,700. The organizer of the third DEL Winter Game will be the arena's operating company, Multifunktionsarena Mannheim. The last Winter Game, which was hosted in Dusseldorf, set a new attendance record for European club hockey with 51,125 spectators. Dusseldorf also bid for the game in '17. DEL Exec Chair Jürgen Arnold: "We had two great applications. In the end it was a decision for our fans in southwest Germany" (DEL).
