Worldwide Sponsorship Spending On Golf To Total $1.73B This Year

IEG research revealed that worldwide spending on golf sponsorship is expected to total $1.73B in '15, up 4.8% from '14. The increase exceeds IEG’s projected 4.1% increase in overall global sponsorship spending. BMW, which recently announced a new partnership with the USA Golf Federation, is the most active sponsor of golf worldwide. Nineteen percent of properties with a sponsor in the auto category report a partnership with the company. Rolex is the second most active sponsor (15%) and Anheuser-Busch InBev (14%) third. IEG Sponsorship Report Senior Editor William Chipps said, "As demonstrated by its involvement with tournaments and sanctioning bodies around the world, BMW continues to dominate the golf landscape." Alcoholic beverages, sports apparel and equipment, banks and media companies round out the top five most active categories (IEG).
