Bundesliga Side Schalke Reports $5.5M Loss For First Half Of '15

Bundesliga side Schalke made a loss of €4.9M ($5.5M) during the first half of '15, according to the DPA. Schalke on Tuesday said that the figure "is similar to last year over the same time frame," when the club reported a loss of €4.5M.  Despite the loss, Schalke expects to announce an overall profit for the '14-15 fiscal year. The club's liabilities decreased by €16.9M ($18.9M) to €154.1M ($172.3M). Over the first six months in '15, Schalke generated revenue of €99.6M ($111.35M), which is €10.2M ($11.4M) more than last year. The team's EBITDA stands at €12.7M ($14.2M) after six month, which is €1M ($1.1M) more than last year. Its operating profit increased to €500,000 ($559,000) after a loss of €2.2M last year (DPA, 9/30).

BACK IN THE RED: KICKER reported 2nd Bundesliga side FC Nuremberg "is expected to report a loss for the '14-15 season after four years in the black." Nuremberg Finance Dir Michael Meeske: "The final numbers haven't been confirmed, but we'll have to expect a loss due to failed expectations." The club will annouce its finances at its annual general meeting on Oct. 11. Last year, the team reported a proft of €409,000 and revenue of €64.4M. Over the last four years, the club made almost €9.5M ($10.6M) in profits (KICKER, 9/30).
