Handball Bundesliga Signs New International Media Deals In Five Countries

Handball Bundesliga (HBL) "has agreed to new media partnerships in five countries ahead of the start of its 50th anniversary season," according to Nils Lehnebach of SPONSORs. Sports agency MP & Silva, which holds the league's int'l broadcast rights through '16-17, "has secured several int'l media partners." Starting this year, the league "will be shown on Digi sport 1&2 in Hungary; Best4sport in Latvia; and Eleven sports network in Belgium, Singapore and Malaysia." However, MP & Silva "was unable to extend the media rights deal with its partner in Iceland." The new partnerships mean the HBL "will air in more than 40 countries during the upcoming season" (SPONSORs, 8/28).
