Bayern Munich Extends Shirt Sponsorship Deal With Deutsche Telekom Until '23

Bayern Munich and Deutsche Telekom "have agreed to an early contract extension of their main and shirt sponsorship deal," according to Peter Bock of SPONSORs. The German telecom firm, whose contract with the club was set to expire after the '16-17 season, will stay on as the team's shirt sponsor through '22-23. The Bonn-based company, which has been a main sponsor of the club since '02, will continue to receive extensive logo presence at home games, including LED signage. Under the new terms, Bayern Munich and Deutsche Telekom "will collaborate on a number of mobile and technology projects." The "Stadium Vision" project will launch for the '15-16 season and offers fans at the Allianz Arena a full multimedia experience. Both parties "did not release any financial terms of the deal." However, when Deutsche Telekom last extended its deal with Bayern Munich in '12, the amount increased by an estimated 20% to €30M ($33.4M) annually. It is expected that the renewal "saw a further increase" (SPONSORs, 8/13).
