Franchise Notes: League Championship Side Hull City Chair Assem Allam Labels FA 'Amateurs'

League Championship side Hull City Chair Assem Allam "has labelled the Football Association 'amateurs' after the governing body blocked his attempted rebranding of the club for a second time." Allam wanted to rename the club Hull Tigers, "believing it would be easier to market the club and bring in increased commercial revenue but his attempts were rejected by the FA Council last month." Allam: "It is a sad day that most of the people who make the decisions are amateurs. To go global, we need to market ourselves. The shorter the name, the better" (London GUARDIAN, 8/2). ... Scottish Championship side Rangers is closer to joining the ISDX Stock Exchange after appointing Peterhouse Corp. Finance as its corporate adviser. Following the resignation of previous advisor WH Ireland in March, Rangers Int' Football Club plc "was delisted from the AIM Stock Exchange." RIFC "has yet to announce a new firm of auditors" (BBC, 7/31).
