German sports media network Sport1 has appointed DIRC SEEMANN as its new editor in chief. Seemann will take on his new position on Saturday (Sport1). ... Second Bundesliga side 1860 Munich Sports Dir GERHARD POSCHNER "has stepped down from his position with immediate effect." Club scout NECAT AYGÜN "will replace Poschner on an interm basis" (BILD, 7/30). ... Sports media services company deltatre named ANDERS PLYHM its new creative director in the U.K. He has 17 years' experience in advertising and a passion for technology, digital and finding new ways to tell stories. He comes to deltatre from Razorfish, where he was the agency's exec creative director, after previously leading the creative teams at SapientNitro and Agency Republic. His client list includes Nike, adidas, Sony PlayStation, Nokia, Absolut Vodka, Cadbury, Diesel and O2 (deltatre). ... Spanish football club Elche President JUAN ANGUIX resigned on Wednesday, "48 hours before the deadline for the club to pay its debt" to the Spanish Footballers' Association (AFE) and avoid relegation to the third tier. The club has already been relegated from La Liga to the second division. His resignation "comes three months and one day after he was appointed president" (AS, 7/30). ... Edleman and its marketing agency United Entertainment Group have reorganized their global sports division ahead of the Rio Olympics, naming N.Y.-based Exec VP ERIN WEINBERG as head of U.S. Olympic business. NATALIA MARTINEZ will serve as head of strategic programs in Brazil. Both will oversee strategy and execution on all Olympic accounts, and they will report to UEG President of Sports & Experiential Marketing MARY SCOTT (Ben Fischer, SportsBusiness Journal).

COACHES/MANAGERS: The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) on Thursday announced that JORGE VILDA, previously the coach of Spain's U19 women's team, will replace IGNACIO QUEREDA as coach of the women's national team. Spain's 23 women's players "asked for his resignation in an open letter" following this summer's Women's World Cup, and he resigned on Wednesday. In its statement, the RFEF "thanked Quereda for his 27 years leading the team" (EL PAÍS, 7/30). ... Argentine national basketball team coach SERGIO HERNÁNDEZ is returning to his former team after being named coach of Argentine National Basketball League (LNB) club Peñarol. Hernández will continue to coach Argentina's national team. He previously coached Peñarol from '07-13 (CLARÍN, 7/29).
