Media Notes: Ad Agency Dentsu Wins Olympic Broadcast Rights In Asia From '18-24

The IOC said that ad agency Dentsu has won the Olympic broadcasting rights for 22 countries in Asia from '18-24. The deal includes three consecutive Olympics in Asia. There were no financial details of the deal available (IOC). ... Asian broadcaster FOX Int'l Channels and South Korean media company JTBC announced the launch of a new channel -- JTBC3 FOX Sports -- in South Korea, which is a collaboration between the two media partners. This will further strengthen FIC’s aim to expand the brand reach of FOX Sports across Asia and also deepen its localization strategy. JTBC3 FOX Sports will showcase a lineup of int'l sports content, along with local sports programming. As a fully-localized channel, with all programming and presentation in Korean, the channel will feature int'l sports events from the Bundesliga, F1, Australian Open, Roland Garros and Wimbledon tennis grand slams, among other sports content (Fox Int'l Channels). ... Univision Deportes set a new ratings record in July. Univision outperformed ESPN 2, Fox Sports 1 and NBC Sports Network, among others, in primetime among total viewers 2+, adults 18-49 and adults 18-34 and ranking as the No. 2 sports network regardless of language in July. Univision regisered impressive audience figures with its coverage of the CONCACAF Gold Cup (Univision Deportes). ...
