CONMEBOL Announces It Will Carry Out Reform Process In Wake Of FIFA Scandal

CONMEBOL announced on Wednesday that it will carry out a process of reform "to combat corruption," according to the DPA. One of the principal measures will be to reform its code of ethics and "review the commercial relationships with the businesses being investigated" as part of the FIFA corruption scandal. CONMEBOL said in a statement to its member associations that the reform to its code of ethics will look to "establish more effective processes to investigate claims of improper conduct and corruption by officials and executives." CONMEBOL will also form a Supervision & Financial Compliance Committee to "periodically report" to the exec committee everything related to the organization's finances (DPA, 7/29).
