Franchise Notes: FIGC Gives Green Light For New Parma Club To Join Serie D

Italian football club Parma "will be hoping to return to the Italian top flight in the years to come" after it was given permission to start afresh after its bankruptcy. The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) "has given the green light for the formation of a new Parma to join Serie D next season." FIGC confirmed the club is to play under a new guise of Parma Calcio 1913, "named after the year of the club's original formation" (GOAL, 7/28). ... Bulgaria's richest man, Vasil Bozhkov, has registered a new company called "SKA Sofia" in the Bulgarian Commercial Register. The news "has sparked fears that a new club using the old name could be formed and entered into the league using Bozhkov's money." The capital in CSKA Sofia is BGN 50,000 ($27,600), and is divided into shares of BGN 1 ($0.55). The sole shareholder in the company is Nove Holding, "which is owned by Bozhkov" (INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL, 7/27).
