Premier League Reveals '14-15 Revenue Distribution; Chelsea Leads With £99M Payout

The Premier League has the most equitable revenue distribution of any major league in Europe, with the ratio of top to bottom earning clubs at just 1.53:1. The EPL's appeal is created from the collective strength and equitable distribution of broadcast revenues. The mechanism for distributing this revenue is based on the Premier League Founder Members' Agreement, the contract signed by the initial clubs that formed the League in '92. The agreement works as follows:

  • 50% of U.K. broadcast revenue split equally between the 20 clubs.
  • 25% of U.K. broadcast revenue paid in Merit Payments ("Prize Money" per place in the table).
  • 25% of U.K. broadcast revenue paid in Facility Fees each time a club's matches are broadcast in the U.K.
  • 100% of int'l broadcast revenue, and central commercial revenue, is split equally amongst the 20 clubs (Premier League).
