Marketplace Roundup: Nike Releases Hypervenom II Spot Featuring Neymar

A new Nike ad featuring Neymar and promoting the brand's Hypervenom II cleats was released on Saturday. In the spot, Nike "creates an advanced virtual reality in which fans can identify" with Neymar. The commercial plays out from Neymar's perspective (SPORT, 6/29). ... Oil and lubricant specialist Motul will be the title sponsor for the Assen, Motegi and Valencia MotoGP races during the '15 season. From '16 the Argentinian round will be added to make it four, in a particularly long-term deal. Motul will also take over as the series sponsor for the World Superbike Championship in '16. Its involvement in the series will see trackside advertising at every one of its MotoGP and WorldSBK races (WorldSBK). ... British soft drinks company Britvic signed a deal that will see it add a further five years to its 80-year Robinson's brand sponsorship of Wimbledon Tennis Championships, extending the sponsorship through '20. The brand is launching a campaign to celebrate this association and mark its history with the sport, including the "Great Robinson's Ball Hunt" involving Tim Henman (MARKETING MAGAZINE, 6/29). ... Samsung, which launched a new line of TVs for the Brazilian market on Monday, contracted Brasileiro side Palmeiras striker Rafael Marques and surfer Gabriel Medina, who has been a brand ambassador since '14, for its ad campaign. In the ad, Marques and Medina are "protagonists of a challenge" involving Samsung products (MAQUINA DO ESPORTE, 6/29). ... Bundesliga side Schalke "has signed an early contract extension with Coca-Cola." The U.S. beverage company, which has been a partner of the club since '13-14, "will remain a second-tier premium partner until the end of the '15-16 season." Coca-Cola pays an estimated €1.1M ($1.25M) annually for the rights (SPONSORs, 6/29). ... Second Bundesliga side Fortuna Dusseldorf has extended its partnership with private brewery Warsteiner for another four years. Brewery Frankenheim, a subsidiary of Warsteiner, has been a partner of the club since '03-04 (Fortuna Dusseldorf).
