FIBA VP XIAO TIAN has been "placed under investigation for possible corruption" in his native China. The ruling Communist Party's disciplinary watchdog said on its website on Thursday that Xiao was "suspected of serious graft." No details were given (AP, 6/25). ... Former India cricketer SACHIN TENDULKAR has been "voted the 'Best Test player' of the 21st century in an online poll conducted by Cricket Australia's website." Tendulkar "got the highest number of votes to emerge on top of the list" of the 100 best Test players since '00, in a poll conducted by cricket.com.au. Sri Lanka's KUMAR SANGAKKARA "received the second highest votes," followed by ADAM GILCHRIST of Australia in the third position (PTI, 6/25). ... Cyclist CHRIS FROOME has "disclosed that he has missed two out-of-competition doping tests in his career," the second this year when he took his wife to a smart hotel in Italy and the staff on reception "denied the testers access to their guest at 7am." Froome said that his other missed test occurred in '10 when he "woke early and decided to go training during his allotted hour." The testers "arrived at his home while he was out" (London TELEGRAPH, 6/25).
