La Liga Side Getafe President Makes $7.8M Payment To Stave Off Relegation

La Liga side Getafe is "out of danger of an administrative relegation" after President Ángel Torres made a €7M ($7.8M) payment to the tax authorities, according to FOOTBALL ESPANA. Torres has "staved off the Treasury and now the pressing concern is the players' wages, which are due on July 31." Agreements are in place with each of the players that "should see El Geta meet their obligations." Torres is said to have "dipped into his own pocket to help the club with the intention of keeping Getafe solvent until the new TV rights deal takes effect and helps the club grow" (FOOTBALL ESPANA, 6/25).
