Grupo Globo Conglomerate Becomes 2016 Olympic Games Media Sponsor

Brazilian media conglomerate Grupo Globo announced that it signed a media sponsorship contract for the 2016 Olympic Games. The agreement sees the participation of four of the group's companies -- Globo network, Globosat, Infoglobo and Sistema Globo de Rádio -- which will develop customized projects to amplify its exposure  and bring Games coverage to all of Brazil. The four companies included in the agreement will be represented by a logo created for the project (Grupo Globo). ESTADÃO reported figures from the deal between Grupo Globo, an "official sponsor," and the 2016 Games "were disclosed by neither Globo" nor the IOC. As per the agreement, Grupo Globo "can develop marketing strategies" in relation to the event. The transmission rights, though, were "already purchased, for Globo and for SporTV," another subsidiary of the conglomerate (ESTADÃO, 6/23).
