Tizona Burgos Execs To Leave Club If Denied Promotion Again

Spanish basketball club Tizona Burgos execs confirmed "their intention to leave the club" if promotion to the Spanish Basketball League (ACB) is not granted, according to the EFE. At an "informative assembly attended by more than 250 members," club President Miguel Ángel Benavente said that the board "no longer has anything to offer" if the ACB "closes the door to the top level of Spanish basketball." The club has earned on-court promotion "three straight" years, but "after the continued rejections from the ACB, the board admits to feeling 'exhausted.'" Benavente and Tizona's other execs "have decided to take a step back and allow for an 'organized' replacement with the hope that Tizona can at least compete in the LEB Oro." For this, "interest, money and diligence will be necessary." The period to register in the second tier will end on July 4 (EFE, 6/24).
