Law Regulating Centralized Sale Of Spanish TV Rights To Take Effect In '15-16

There is "already an agreement" for the Real Decreto for the centralized sale of the Spanish Football League's (LFP) TV rights to take effect for the '15-16 season instead of '16-17, according to Sergio Fernández of MARCA. This "means oxygen for the majority of the clubs, which will have more TV revenue and will be able to improve their accounts." The LFP is expecting the contracts to be worth €1.05B ($1.2B)-€1.2B ($1.36B) -- around €690M ($782M) for domestic rights and €450M ($510M) for int'l rights. Movistar is "pushing hard" for the domestic rights, while Mediapro wants the int'l rights. The "key to this agreement is Mediapro, which will free from their contracts" the 37 clubs with which it has agreements for next season. In exchange, "it wants to manage clubs' int'l rights for the next five years" (MARCA, 6/19).
