Handball Bundesliga Club HSG Wetzlar Extends Deal With Arena Partner Until '20

Rittal "has extended its arena naming-rights deal" for the home of Handball Bundesliga (HBL) side HSG Wetzlar, according to Kathrin Hartmann of SPONSORs. Rittal, which has been the naming-rights partner since '06, "signed an extension until '20." The arena "hosted 900 events over the past 10 years and welcomed more than 1.6 million spectators." Rittal currently pays around €120,000 ($136,000) for the rights. The renewal "is expected to have the same value." In addition, Gegenbauer Management & Services "will remain the operating company of the area" until '20. The city of Wetzlar "took a corresponding option" in the contract. The arena has capacity of 4,500 during handball games (SPONSORs, 6/22).

MORE FROM HANDBALL: SPONSORs' Peter Bock reported HBL club HBW Balingen-Weilstetten "has extended its sponsorship deal with Bizerba." The manufacturer of cash registers "signed a one-year deal with the club." Bizerba "is a second-tier partner of the club and the extension includes ad space in camera view along with logo placement on the back and front of the players' jerseys." The deal has an estimated value of €100,000 ($113,000) (SPONSORs, 6/22).
