U.S. Olympic Committee Chair LARRY PROBST was appointed as chairman of a new panel that will oversee the launch of the IOC's Olympic TV channel. The creation of the Olympic Channel Commission and the appointment of Probst to head the 16-member panel was part of a shake-up announced by IOC President THOMAS BACH in his various commissions (AP, 6/1).

COACHES/MANAGERS
: AMÉRICO RUBÉN GALLEGO is "no longer the coach" of Argentine first division side Newell's Old Boys. The decision was reached after a meeting between Gallego and club execs, "who mutually agreed on a decision to end his tenure at the club, which began six months ago" (CLARÍN, 6/1). ... Bulgarian football club Ludogorets said that it has "parted company" with head coach GEORGI DERMENDZHIEV. Dermendzhiev, who replaced STOYCHO STOEV in July, led the Razgrad-based side to its fourth successive league title. Local media reported that Ludogorets, which has "never been coached by a foreigner, will appoint a Spanish coach within a week" (REUTERS, 6/1). ... AILTON SILVA "was selected to replace" PELÉ's son, EDINHO, as coach of Brasileiro Série B side Mogi Mirim (ESTADÃO, 6/1). ... Former England midfielder DAVID PLATT has been appointed manager of Indian Super League side FC Pune City. It will be the 48-year-old's "first coaching role" since leaving Man City in '13. Platt played for EPL side Aston Villa and Arsenal, Serie A sides Juventus and Sampdoria, Serie B side Bari, League Championship side Nottingham Forest and League One side Crewe Alexandra (BBC, 6/2). ... League One side Sheffield United has appointed former Southampton and Reading boss NIGEL ADKINS as its new manager. A news conference on Tuesday announced Adkins as NIGEL CLOUGH's successor. Clough "was sacked by the Bramall Lane side last month" (BBC, 6/2).
