ESPN International Acquires Rights To Serie A In Brazil, Latin America, Caribbean

ESPN Int'l reached a broad multimedia rights agreement with Fox Sport Latin America to broadcast Serie A in Brazil, effective '15-16 through '17-18. Fox Sports secured the Lega Calcio rights via agency MP Silva. Under the agreement, ESPN and Fox Sports will divide the matches equally for Serie A. ESPN will have the right to carry 50% of all matches available from Serie A, 190 matches each season, subject to an equitable selection process that includes the first pick/selection every other round, along with weekly highlights shows, a weekly official magazine program of Serie A and certain archive footage. Serie A is a fan favorite with clubs like Juventus, AC Milan, Internazionale, Roma, Lazio and Napoli providing some of the most dynamic play in world football. ESPN's coverage of Serie A will air across a variety of multimedia platforms, including ESPN's TV networks ESPN, ESPN Brasil and ESPN+. WatchESPN, ESPN's broadband network, will also offer extensive coverage throughout the tournaments. Additionally, rights will extend across the brand's regional digital platforms including ESPN.com.br and second-screen app ESPN Sync. ESPN Int'l also reached a broad multimedia rights agreement with Fox Sports Latin America to continue broadcasting Serie A throughout Latin America and select countries and territories across the Caribbean, effective '15-16 through '17-18. The next Serie A season begins on Aug. 22 (ESPN).
