Global Broadcast, Media Services Provider Red Bee Media Set For Rebranding

Global broadcast and media services provider Red Bee Media -- now owned by Ericsson -- "is to be rebranded" on Monday, according to Colin Mann of ADVANCED TELEVISION. Social network postings from the company suggested that there will be "the same great TV/media news/comment/insight," with a new name and look. Red Bee Media was formed from BBC Broadcast Ltd., a unit created by the BBC in '02 "by placing a range of BBC channel creation and channel management services under one roof" (ADVANCED TELEVISION, 5/26). BROADBAND TV NEWS' Julian Clover wrote Red Bee Media "has confirmed" the rebrand in a Tweet.

The transaction, originally announced in July '13, "took a year to complete after competition procedures were followed." Red Bee "maintains contracts with the BBC, as well as providing services for companies including Canal+, the BBC and Channel 4" (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 5/26).
