Senator, Former Footballer Romário Demands Answers From CBF Concerning ISE Contracts

Brazilian senator and former footballer Romário "wants congress to examine the secret contracts" made by the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF), especially agreements involving the national team, according to Jamil Chade of ESTADÃO. Romário said that explanations "must be given about why" ISE, a company based in the Cayman Islands -- the "fiscal paradise" -- was selected for agreements with the CBF. On his Facebook page, Romário said, "These million-dollar transactions, with closed businesses in fiscal paradises ... are made far from the eyes of the Federal Revenue [Department]. ... There is no alternative, either these people are arrested, or they will continue to pollute Brazilian football with bad blood until its definitive death, which is not that far away" (ESTADÃO, 5/21).
