Spanish Football League President Javier Tebas Seeking Agreement With AFE

Spanish Football League (LFP) President Javier Tebas said that the Spanish Footballers' Association (AFE) "should accept the outstretched hand of La Liga" and added that the strike -- which was suspended last week -- "will be resolved with dialogue and not via the legal path," according to the EFE. Tebas: "Some of the matters that they are asking for should be reflected in the Real Decreto, and we are willing to have them in the agreement. I believe that it is very important progress. It is a hand extended from the LFP to the AFE, which in my opinion they should grab. For now they have not accepted it." Tebas added, "As president of La Liga I believe that [RFEF President Ángel María] Villar is amortized in the Federation. In January there are elections and we will try to look for someone that can lead the changes in the RFEF that I believe are necessary. Incidents like this show that he should not stay another minute longer. It is difficult to win elections, but my obligation is to say what I think" (EFE, 5/18).
