Facility Notes: Transformation Of Kazan Arena Stadium Into Swimming Venue Kicks Off

Major transformation work of the Kazan Arena Stadium into the main swimming and synchronized swimming venue for the Int'l Swimming Federation (FINA) World Championships started on Monday in the capital city of Tatarstan. A main and a training temporary swimming pool will be installed in the Kazan's football stadium as the first batch of equipment has been delivered (FINA). ... Planning permission has been submitted to slightly increase the capacity of the Olympic Stadium. Originally the London 2012 converted stadium was planned to seat 54,000, but a new application has asked that now be increased to 54,683 (CLARET & HUGH, 5/17).
