Spanish Football League (LFP) North Africa & Middle East Dir General Fernando Sanz visited India last week for a range of meetings with politicians and business figures in the country. Sanz's visit sees India join the list of countries in Africa and the Middle East showing an interest in Spanish football and ready to become a part of La Liga's internationalization projects, as has been the case of the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Thailand or Turkey (LFP). ... The Int'l Cycling Union (UCI) announced that Hong Kong will, for the first time, host a round of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup from Jan. 16-17. The event will take place at the Hong Kong Velodrome (UCI). ... The prospect of using pink balls in a New Zealand-Australia day-night test in November "appears doomed." The concept could "soon be shelved because players from both countries are believed to oppose the idea" promoted by Cricket Australia to drive better crowds and TV ratings. Players also do not "want to be 'lab rats' in such an important series" (NEW ZEALAND HERALD, 5/3).
