New Glasgow Sports Hall To Be Built By Architecture Firm Burnet Bell

Glasgow-based architecture firm Burnet Bell has been given the go-ahead for a £6.5M ($9.9M) sports hall outside Mackintosh's Glasgow School of Art, according to Laura Mark of ARCHITECTS JOURNAL. The firm's scheme received "more than 20 letters of objection." The project for St. Aloysius College "will be built on an existing playground and features a metal-clad sports hall." The 2,734 square meter building, "which the school said would provide much needed sports facilities, will include sports courts, a first floor café and an external games area." Work is expected to start on site in June (ARCHITECTS JOURNAL, 4/27).
