Event Notes: EPL Chelsea To Take On A-League Sydney FC At ANZ Stadium

EPL club Chelsea is "set to play a friendly match" against A-League side Sydney FC at ANZ Stadium in June. Key stakeholders are in "advanced negotiations to sign a guest match deal with Chelsea in what will be the first time the English giants have toured Australia in 50 years." A deal has reportedly "been agreed to in principle and could be confirmed as early as next week" (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 4/23). ... Accusations of racism have forced organizers of the Stockholm Marathon to "change their plan to give prize money only to Nordic runners." The organizers had previously announced that the race, which is due to take place on May 30, would be a "Nordic international competition" and that prize money could be won only by Nordic runners. Aside from "being excluded from the prize pot" of £19,000 ($28,600), officials also said that non-Nordic athletes "would not receive any appearance fee" (London GUARDIAN, 4/23).
