Former La Liga side Athletic Bilbao players TELMO ZARRA and RAIMUNDO PÉREZ LEZAMA "will have streets adjacent to the San Mamés stadium named after them." The Bilbao City Council announced the news in a resolution by Mayor IBON ARESO. The street named after Lezama will access the north stands, while Zarra's will access the south stands (EFE, 4/22). ... Polish mountain biker MAJA WLOSZCZOWSKA will be an "Athlete Ambassador for this summer's inaugural European Games." Wloszczowska won Silver at the Beijing 2008 Olympics in women's cross-country mountain biking, before becoming world champion in the same event in '10 (AZER NEWS, 4/22). ... Former Team Sky cyclist JONATHAN TIERNAN-LOCKE said that he wants to "return to professional racing when his two-year doping ban expires at the end of December." Tiernan-Locke, who "continues to protest his innocence, is confident he can return at the level" he was at in '12 when he won his Tour of Britain title. He insists that he won that race "fair and square" (London TELEGRAPH, 4/22). ... Former South African footballer JOHN MOSHOEU died at the age of 49. He had been "suffering from stomach cancer and lost his battle against the disease on Tuesday." NEIL TOVEY, captain of the South African team in '96, said, "It is very, very sad. He was a tremendous footballer -- similar to LIONEL MESSI." Moshoeu's career began in '87 with South African side Giant Blackpool and he "went on to play for eight other teams" including Kaizer Chiefs and Turkish club Fenerbahce (BBC, 4/21).
