The Brazilian Tennis Confederation (CBT) "wants to utilize" the Olympic Tennis Center as its administrative HQ and training center after the 2016 Games, according to André Sender of the GAZETA ESPORTIVA. The CBT has been working on a project to turn in to the center's management by December "asking for the cession of the Olympic Center to the entity" post-Games. Having a national training center is one of CBT President Jorge Lacerda's "oldest dreams." Lacerda opted to update the CBT's current HQ, located in São Paulo, prior to opting for the Olympic center "without success." Lacerda said, "Before the tennis test event, which will be in December, we want to present this project so that the Olympic Center becomes our training center and the headquarters of the confederation, which probably needs to move to Rio de Janeiro." The center, which is "still under construction," was budgeted at R$165M ($55.4M) and will have 16 courts, one of which has 10,000 seats and would "allow the location to host large events in the future" (GAZETA ESPORTIVA, 4/16).
