Indonesian FA, Sports Ministry Feud Heats Up After Recent Sanctions

Newly elected Indonesian FA (PSSI) Chair La Nyalla Mattalitti has "accused" Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi of "scheming against the football federation after it was slapped with administrative sanctions by the ministry," according to Ami Afriatni of the JAKARTA GLOBE. Mattalitti on Monday "slammed Imam’s announcement of a ministry transition team" under the supervision of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI), the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) and the PSSI's regional offices, which will "work to manage official sporting competitions across the country." Mattalitti said, "This looks to be part of a divisive scheme against the PSSI. I was informed that KONI and KOI have refused to supervise the [Indonesia Super League] ISL and other competitions. I will meet with them to confirm this. The minister has abused his power. We can't let this go on" (JAKARTA GLOBE, 4/20).
