Facility Notes: Nilton Santos Stadium Track Costs Rio City Government $17M

The Rio de Janeiro city government announced Wednesday the "conclusion of the bidding to renovate the track" at Nilton Santos stadium. Brazilian construction company Augusto Veloso "won the competition" with the offer to complete the track construction for R$52M ($17.2M). The company "has one year to complete construction" (GLOBO ESPORTE, 4/15). ... Brasileiro side Botafogo "announced Thursday a new contract" with the Maracanã consortium, which manages Maracanã stadium. The club can now "use the stadium for 33 years." The document also "does not force the club to use the location for a minimum number of matches" (GLOBO ESPORTE, 4/16).
