Indian Ice Hockey Team Heads To Kuwait After Successful Crowd-Funding Campaign

The Indian ice hockey team is "on its way to Kuwait for the Challenge Cup Division 1, after a wave of supporters came forward" to crowd-fund its campaign, according to the PTI. The Division I event, which will be held on April 24, "will have six teams including hosts Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Singapore, India, Malaysia and Oman." Now that the team has found its supporters through its successful crowd-funding campaign, the association can not "thank them enough for turning up in numbers." Ice Hockey Association of India General Secretary Harjinder Singh said, "The turn of events since the start of the #supporticehockey campaign has been so heartening." For Ice Hockey Association of India, raising funds for the tournament is not the end, "but just the beginning." Harjinder: "We are open to more donations and funds to secure the future of the sport" (PTI, 4/15).
