Football Notes: 'Hooligans' Attack Croatian Football Federation Officials And Coach

A group of "hooligans," believed to be Croatian side Hajduk Split fans, attacked Croatian Football Federation (HNS) officials including coach Niko Kovač on Monday. No one was injured, but police later said that they had detained 12 people over the incident, which "took place at a rest-stop on the motorway between Split and Zagreb." An HNS statement said, "Some 10 hooligans with Hajduk insignia attacked a Croatian Football Federation delegation first verbally and then physically" (AFP, 4/14). ... Ligue 1 side Paris St. Germain has appealed to France's Olympic Committee (CNOSF) to reduce Zlatan Ibrahimović's "four-game domestic ban." Ibrahimović, 33, was "hit with a three-game suspension following an angry outburst at match officials." The CNOSF will "appoint a mediator, who will attempt to find a compromise" between PSG and the French Football League (LFP) (ESPN, 4/14).
