Brasileiro Side Flamengo Memberships Contribute R$30M To Bottom Line In '14

The membership program of Brasileiro side Flamengo "is already the third largest source" of the club's revenue, according to Duda Lopes of MAQUINA DO ESPORTE. In '14, R$30M was "collected" from the program, which was "almost double" that of '13. Currently, the club "only has two sources that are superior": box office revenue, which is R$40M ($13.1M), and TV rights, which is R$115M ($38M). Sponsorships are R$80M ($26.3M), but "not one specific sponsor pays what the members" in total contribute. Flamengo Communications VP Gustavo Oliveira said, "The concept of helping the team helps the loyalty of the members. They don't pay only to go to games." For the coming months, the club is looking to "amplify some partnerships with companies to give members more benefits" (MAQUINA DO ESPORTE, 4/15).
