Sky Deutschland Draws High Ratings With Bundesliga, F1 Coverage

German pay-TV channel Sky Deutschland "is looking back at a 'successful' Bundesliga weekend," according to Alexander Krei of DWDL. The network's simulcast on Saturday afternoon obtained a market share of 15.7% in the target demographic 14-49. It "was the highest number in the past four weeks." The broadcast attracted an average of 1.34 million viewers and had an overall market share of 14.3%. Saturday evening's game between Hamburg and Wolfsburg was watched by 810,000 viewers. Sunday's game between Stuttgart and Bremen drew 760,000 and generated a market share of 6.1% in the target demo.

SHANGHAI NOON: German free-to-air TV channel RTL recorded 3.82 million viewers for its coverage of Sunday's Chinese F1 Grand Prix. The number translated into a market share of 42.5%, along with 37.9% in the target demographic. Sky, which also aired the race, attracted an average of 310,000 viewers and obtained a 3.3% share in the target demo (DWDL, 4/13).

HOOPS FINAL: The SID reported 280,000 viewers tuned in to watch Sunday's Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) Cup final on German public broadcasters ZDF. The game between EWE Baskets Oldenburg and Brose Baskets Bamberg (72-70) obtained a "disappointing" market share of 2.4% (SID, 4/13).
