League Notes: FA To Contact QPR After Chelsea Players Hit With Debris

The FA is to contact Queens Park Rangers and Chelsea "for their observations after the visiting players were showered by objects thrown from the stands in the wake of Cesc Fàbregas’s late winner in Sunday’s west London derby at Loftus Road." Branislav Ivanović "was struck on the neck by a cigarette lighter, with Nemanja Matić also hit as coins and plastic bottles rained down from those supporters seated in the corner of the Loftus Road and Ellerslie Road stands" (London GUARDIAN, 4/13). ... League Championship side Rotherham has been charged by the Football League "with fielding an ineligible player." Defender Farrend Rawson, on loan from Derby County, "played the full 90 minutes as the Millers beat Brighton 1-0 earlier this month." The Football League said a football disciplinary commission will hear the case at the "earliest possible opportunity" so the matter is resolved before the end of the season (BBC, 4/13).
