Finance Notes: EPL Side Southampton In Black For First Time Since '09 With £33.4M Profit

EPL side Southampton made a £33.4M profit last year -- the first since the club "went into administration" in '09. The club's results for the year ending June 30 showed an increase after a £7.1M loss in '13. A record TV rights deal helped total revenue increase from £71.8M to £106M (BBC, 3/31). ... U.S.-based Vail Resorts bought Australia's Perisher ski resort for A$176.6M ($134.3M) from James Packer subsidiary Murray Publishers and Transfield Corporate. The deal includes the resort areas of Perisher Valley, Smiggin Holes, Blue Cow and Guthega. Also included are the "ski school, lodging, food and beverage and retail/rental and transportation operations" (BUSINESSDAY, 3/31).
