Barcelona Was Reportedly Warned By Deloitte After Signing Neymar

The leak of Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu's testimony in February "is a minefield for his defense," according to Santi Giménez of AS. During an interrogation in court, Bartomeu was presented with a report from Deloitte dated June 30, 2013 -- 26 days after the club signed Neymar. In that report, Deloitte advised Barcelona of the "possible tax crime of not declaring in Spain" the €40M paid to the business owned by Neymar's father. When asked about this, Bartomeu "assured that he did not know of this report" and that "these documents do not arrive to the board of directors" (AS, 3/29).

MORE WRANGLINGS: In Madrid, Rojo & Font reported DIS, the company that owned 40% of Neymar's rights when he played for Brasileiro side Santos, "has sent a written demand to all parties and persons involved in the deal." They have been given until April 30 to "justify a series of transactions outlined in the document and to adjust the quantity that DIS is owed corresponding to their percentage." DIS is "not stopping there" and has used two law firms to announce that "given that Neymar publicly acknowledged the existence of an offer" of €120M, "we reserve the right to claim" €41.16M, in reference to Real Madrid's bid to sign the forward (MARCA, 3/29).
