The Rio 2016 organizing committee announced Tuesday that the event "will generate 80,000 temporary job posts," according to Dilascio & Filipo of GLOBO ESPORTE. Rio 2016 also announced that sponsorship for the Games "exceeded by 7% the goal established in 2014." According to Rio 2016, there will be "19,000 temporary workers for security, 14,000 in the food industry, 8,000 in transportation, 8,000 in the ticketing and hospitality areas, 7,000 in cleaning and 5,000 in hotels." Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB) and Rio 2016 President Carlos Arthur Nuzman said, "Rio will be the city that will undergo the largest transformation because of the Olympic Games, more than Barcelona or Tokyo. It will generate many jobs, and the city will be completely revitalized, especially in the Port Region, where Rio was born" (GLOBO ESPORTE, 3/24).
