Ryder Cup Germany (RCD) announced it "will bid to host the 2022 Ryder Cup, sighting the possible tournament venue as the golf course in Bad Saarow, Brandenburg," according to the SID. The course "was designed" by former golfer Nick Faldo. The tournament has only been hosted outside of the U.K. once -- Spain in '97. Germany's bid "will be challenged by various countries," including Spain, Austria, Italy and Portugal for the tournament "in seven years time." The host "will be decided in Autumn this year." RCD CEO Marco Kaussler said, "In the last seven months, we've worked intensely in order to mount a brilliant bid. We are pleased to place our bid with such a beautiful course." Germany "was one of five countries that bid to host the 2018 Ryder Cup, but France were chosen as hosts for the event in three years time" (SID, 3/25).
