League Notes: Al Kamali Accused Of Offering Rolex Watches To Fellow IAAF Members

IAAF VP candidate Ahmad Al Kamali "has been accused of offering Rolex watches to fellow IAAF members during his campaign." The UAE Athletics Federation president "allegedly offered the watches to around 40 delegates who are entitled to vote in the IAAF elections later on this year at the African Athletics Congress in Addis Ababa held earlier this month" (ATHLETICS WEEKLY, 3/24). ... Russian track and field coach Yuriy Borzakovskiy said that the country "has put years of doping scandals behind it and now has a clean team ahead of next year's Olympics in Rio de Janeiro." The Gold Medalist in the 800m at the 2004 Athens Olympics "was appointed head coach last month after his predecessor, Valentin Maslakov, resigned following a doping scandal in which three Russian Olympic champion race walkers were banned." Borzakovskiy: "The guys now understand that the past should stay in the past. Now we have a new team and everyone in it is clean" (AP, 3/24). ... Cricket Australia will launch its Sporting Schools Cricket Program. The program is part of the Australian government’s A$100M ($78M) program to get more children playing sport in schools (Cricket Australia).
