League Notes: Kevin Pietersen To Play County Cricket To Secure England Test Return

Cricketer Kevin Pietersen “intends to play county cricket this summer in an attempt to win back his place in the England Test team.” Pietersen has been granted the opportunity to “prove himself worthy of a return to the England team” by England & Wales Cricket Board chairman-elect Colin Graves, who said last month that players would be “picked on performance and not personality” when he takes over from Giles Clarke in May. Pietersen has resolved to do “exactly that.” He confirmed his intentions to Fox Sports in Australia, where he is “about to begin work as a World Cup pundit” (London TELEGRAPH, 3/14). ... The Rugby Football Union launched Try for Change, a new flagship social responsibility program. Supported by founding partner O2, Try for Change aims to raise awareness and grow rugby as a tool for social good, by bringing together and supporting leading rugby charities and organizations. The six charities initially enrolled in Try for Change for '15 will have access to support and mentoring. These charities are: All Schools (RFF), Dallaglio Foundation, Injured Players Foundation, Restart, School of Hard Knocks and Wooden Spoon (RFU).
